Account alerts is a service you can subscribe to through Online banking, where you’ll receive text messages to notify you of your account activities. Once you subscribe, you’ll first receive a welcome message.

Choose to receive text messages that will help you stay on top of your account activity.

“I want to know when my paycheque is deposited”

Choose a Credit notification alert: Receive an alert when a payment above a specified amount has been credited to your account.
“Let me know when my balance is less than $1,000”

Choose a Balance below alert: Receive an alert if the balance on your account falls below a specified balance.
“Remind me when my Term Deposit is coming up for renewal”

Choose a Term deposit/GIC alert: Receive an alert when your Term deposit/GIC account is about to mature.

“Alert me when my mortgage payment is withdrawn”

Choose a Debit notification alert: Receive an alert when a payment or withdrawal above a specified amount has been debited from your account.
“I want to know when I’ve reached my savings goal for my vacation”

Choose a Balance above alert: Receive an alert if the balance on your account goes above a specified balance.

As an HSBC Online banking customer, you may receive other emails or text messages related to:

Online banking registration
Changes to your password or security questions
Security Device activation, replacement or PIN / Passcode reset

Log on to Online banking, select "Account alert settings" under "Banking" or from the menu under your name in the top right of the screen.
Click on "Subscribe" next to "Alerts for individual accounts."
Select the account you want to receive alerts for.
Select which alerts you want to receive.
Personalize your alerts (e.g. balance amount that triggers the alert).

Account alerts is a free service to our customers; however, local mobile carrier charges for data usage or text messages may apply. Please contact your carrier for further details.

Any account numbers will be partially masked to avoid other people from getting the information. Remember, we will never ask you to provide personal information over email or text.

In Online banking, select "Account alert settings" under "Banking" or from the menu under your name in the top right of the screen.
Click "Unsubscribe" for each Account alert that you want to stop receiving and click "Save". You can also unsubscribe through your mobile phone by texting back "STOP" to any of the Account alerts text messages, which will unsubscribe you from all of your Account alerts.

As soon as you subscribe to this service, you will receive a welcome message, between 6am-9pm Pacific Time, confirming you are set up to receive Account alerts. Texts for your selected Account alerts will be sent as soon as an Account alert is triggered.

Account alerts are sent in real-time between 6am-9pm Pacific Time. Account alerts that are triggered outside of those hours will be sent to you at the upcoming 6 am Pacific Time.

Please ensure that your mobile phone number displayed on the Account alert settings page is up to date, and confirm your Account alerts selection. If you still do not receive any Account alert messages, please contact us.

The memory capacity on your mobile telephone has probably been fully used, which would prevent further messages being received. If this is the case, you will need to delete some of your existing messages in order to free up space on your phone to receive more.
It’s also possible that the criteria has not been met for the Account alert type that you have chosen for the account. Therefore, no Account alerts message will be sent out.
You may have opted-out of receiving Account alerts by texting ‘STOP’ to 24722, which would stop all Account alerts which you may have previously set up. See question "How do I sign up for Account alerts" to set up Account alerts again.

Yes. You can log on to Online banking, navigate to the "Account alert settings" function and adjust or unsubscribe your current Account alerts or subscribe to new ones.

If you’ve changed your mobile phone number or the number we have on record is incorrect, you can update it in Online banking.
Select "Update Personal Details" under "Banking" or from the menu under your name in the top right of the screen or from "Account alert settings"
You'll need your Security Device to make this change.

You cannot suspend Account alerts. If you want to stop Account alerts for a period of time you should unsubscribe the Account alert in Online banking, and then reactivate it when you are ready to receive Account alerts again.

No, unfortunately we are only able to send the Account alerts message once. If an Account alert message is deleted it cannot be viewed again.

Some phone models allow you to change the way in which you are alerted to incoming messages. Check that you have set the message alert option "on" and the volume is not at zero. If you have any further questions, contact your service provider.

You must report the loss to your service provider and ask them to disable your phone. You should also log on to Online banking and unsubscribe from your Account alerts. Alternatively, contact Customer Service at 1-877-621-8811 to unsubscribe.
