Payroll direct deposit is a simple, safe, and smart way to receive money into your HSBC account(s).

How to set up your Payroll Direct Deposit with HSBC Bank Canada

Ask your company payroll department what information they require from you to be able to set up direct deposit into your HSBC account(s).

If you currently hold an HSBC chequing account, the information needed can be supplied by providing your company payroll department with a "VOID" HSBC cheque bearing your banking information.

If you don't hold a chequing account, you can still set up payroll direct deposit by providing your payroll department with the following information:

Information to provide your payroll department

  • Financial Institution - HSBC

    The field on the Payroll Direct Deposit Authorization Form is prepopulated with the institution number 016.

  • Account Number

    The HSBC account number you want to have your salary paid into. (e.g. 123456-150).

  • Branch Address

    You can find your branch’s address on a cheque, online statement or paper statement. Alternatively, you can search for the address on the “Find a Branch” page on our website. Enter the city or province in the  “Enter a location” box, select “Branches Only”, then click the red magnifying glass icon.

  • Account Holder

    Your full name as it appears on your cheques, account statements, and within HSBC Online Banking.

  • Transit Number

    Every branch has a unique five-digit transit number beginning with 10 (e.g. 10270). On the Payroll Direct Deposit Authorization Form, you will only need to fill in the last three digits of the transit number after the “10”. Note: If you only hold an HSBC Advance Savings Account, your transit number will be 10850.
